India has conducted the first flight test of its indigenous Kusha long-range surface to air missile system. The system has been developed as a domestic alternative to the prohibitively-expensive but effective S400 surface to air missile system.

Hyderabad-based Azad Engineering has delivered the first indigenous Expendable Turbo Jet Engine of 350 kg thrust class to the Gas Turbine Research Establishment, paving the way for India to field domestic jet engines to power tactical UAVs, subsonic cruise missiles and reconnaissance drones.

On Wednesday, 22 July, the DRDO’s Centre for Air Borne Systems signed a contract with New Delhi-based AI Engineering Services Limited to convert six Airbus A321 passenger aircraft to green configuration. The conversion will make the aircraft ready to take on mission systems and function as fully-configured airborne early warning and control jets.
